Born prematurely on October 24, 2004, Raegan WEIGHED 2 lbs. 4 oz. and Amber weighed 1 lbs. 4 oz. Because of birth complications both girls had developmental delays and Amber was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at age one. At the age of three both girls entered the Special Pre-School Education Program (SPEC), at Easter Seals West Central Alabama Rehabilitation Center in Selma. “SPEC helped my girls with everyday living like potty training, eating independently, learning shapes, colors, and letters. They were able to receive Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. Now at the age of five both girls are attending regular pre-school and are typically learning and growing. I thank the SPEC Program at Easter Seals everyday for their marvelous work that has truly touched my family’s lives in a glorious way.”

WALK WITH RANDY PERRY

Meet Randy Perry, who was referred to Easter Seals West Central Alabama Rehabilitation Center for Work Adjustment and Employment Development Services by the Alabama Department of Rehab Services in October, 2004. While in the Work Adjustment Program, he participated in “Work Contracts” involving janitorial work as well as hand assembly work. He always gave 100٪ to his program and never became discouraged. He was eventually able to participate in an “On The Job (OJT) Training” Program, partly funded by his employer and partly by the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, with Easter Seals providing Job Retention  and Follow-up services. Because of his successful OJT Randy was eventually hired full-time and has moved up from his initial hire as a Truck un-loader/loader to the “Sustainability Team” and is receiving full employee benefits, including retirement, and health insurance. Randy has captured many awards since his successful employment, among them, Easter Seals State of Alabama Achievement Award and Employee of the Year at Plantation Patterns Furniture Company where he works. Randy credits Easter Seals for his successful full-time employment since February 2006!!
